the darby family

October 26, 2016

Coming from a small family, and now having a small family of my own, there’s a particular kind of controlled chaos that comes with big families that I’m drawn to. I love the kids running wild, the laughter and the fights that flow from one moment to the next. My favourite part though is watching Mum. She’s the calm centre of the family cyclone, fixing hair while breastfeeding, supervising and watching fondly from a distance. She wades into the thick of it when she needs to, but often I find she’s just observing from afar. I’d like to hope she’s silently congratulating herself on having birthed four amazing children.
